Mustang Trek
The Mustang region, often called the “Last Forbidden Kingdom,” lies in the rain shadow of the Himalayas. It offers dramatic desert-like landscapes, Tibetan-influenced culture, and ancient monasteries.
 
Rules & Regulations
  • Restricted Area Permit: Upper Mustang requires a special permit (USD 50 per person per day.
  • Mandatory Guide: Trekkers must be accompanied by a licensed guide and travel through a registered agency.
  • Group Requirement: Up to 07 members in a group to obtain the permit.
  • Lower Mustang: Easy access, only standard Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) needed.
Festivals
  • Tiji Festival (Lo-Manthang): A three-day Buddhist festival in May celebrating the triumph of good over evil, with masked dances and rituals.
  • Yartung Festival: Celebrated with horse racing and archery, marking the end of summer.
  • Other Local Celebrations: Linked to Tibetan Buddhism and seasonal cycles.
Lo-Manthang
  • Capital of Upper Mustang: A walled city with centuries-old monasteries and palaces.
  • Highlights: Jampa Lhakhang (God House), Thubchen Gompa, and the royal palace.
  • Culture: Strong Tibetan influence, with preserved traditions and architecture.

Transportation Access from Nepal
